“Global Warming Ready” and “Up-Cycling”


Diesel takes pride in its care for the environment, a feat that few designers can claim. The brand has even launched campaigns such as “Global Warming Ready” in which models posed in Diesel apparel in a world damaged by climate change and rising water levels (Macleod). The campaign showcased a video about climate change and a new map displaying many regions around the world underwater.

Diesel recently partnered with Eco-Age consulting company, which helped them build the “Responsible Living Strategy” (Fashion United) and continue to be the alternative brand that celebrates diversity, integrity, and people’s lives but planet we live in as well. The brand has recently created its “Up-Cycling” concept, which transforms “existing products, waste material, and deadstock into new products” (Diesel). It also reduces the amount of raw materials used, which decreases the amount of air and water pollution as well as the amount of energy used.
